Zachary “Zach” Daniel Zaldivar, 18, of Gladstone, Virginia, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. Born in Richmond, Virgina, on September 26, 2008, he was the beloved son of Kristina Michelle Kessler Zaldivar and Roger Rosendo Zaldivar.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four brothers, Kristian Zaldivar; Alexander Zaldivar and wife, Hallie; Brandon Zaldivar; and Oliver Zaldivar; two nephews, Leo and Jaxon; one niece, Aurora; as well as his brothers’ long time partners, Alissa and Dixie; and many close friends who will cherish his memory.
Zachary was a remarkable young man who always brought life, hope, happiness, and laughter to all those around him. His smile was contagious, often making people smile through jokes or light-hearted impersonations. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or find a way to make someone’s day a little bit brighter. Kindness came naturally with Zachary. Whoever came in contact with him was fortunate enough to know the lasting impression he would have on them.
Zachary was also a dedicated, hard working young man who truly loved his work as a contact ranger at James River State Park, where he took great pride in his role. He enjoyed working on the weekends at AJ Skateworld. At church, he shared his time and talents by helping with the Sunday school children, as well as running the music and visual presentations during services. He was also active in his youth study group where he was seeking knowledge and wisdom from the Lord.
Zachary was someone truly special. He was full of life, intelligent, compassionate, and kindhearted. He always had a way of seeing people for who they were, with sincerity, caring for them and making them feel valued. Zachary lived with kindness and joy every day in a world where it is often overlooked. He was an extraordinary son, devoted brother, playful uncle, and loyal friend. The love he gave us will continue to live on in the hearts of every life he touched. Though his time here was much too short, the impact he had on this world will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Gladstone, officiated by Pastor Roger Zaldivar, Pastor Richard Keith McCormick, and Pastor Buddy Bryant. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
