Obituary

William "Bill" Coupe, 79, passed away at home, Friday, March 25, 2016, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Renee Booker Coupe for 34 years.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, on March 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Elizabeth Watjen Peacock and Lewis Coupe. He was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly C. Pavlock and husband, Jeffrey of South Lyon, MI and children, Annamarie, Rebecca and Matthew, Saralyn C. Sherwood and husband, Mark of Ada, MI, and children, Abigail and Nolan; four step-daughters, Dana Mayberry and husband, Steve and children, Patrick and Tate and a great-granddaughter, Reagan, Kimberly Mays and husband, Danny and children, Phillip Harmsen and wife, Devin and Taylor Richardson, Paige Drinkard and husband, Steven and children, Cole, Jillian and Ross all of Appomattox, Lara Weiss and husband, Michael and children, Wil, Erille and Braedy of Agoura Hills, CA; two brothers, Charles Coupe and wife, Elaine of NorthPort, ME and Bruce Coupe and wife, Tilly of Aurora, CO.

He was preceded in death by his stepson William M. McGrath IV; a brother, Lewis Ronald Coupe and a sister, Mary Jane Dyer Smith.

Bill attended Seminary and undergrad school at Hiram College in Ohio. He is a graduate of the Indiana University of Law. He was a Russian Intercept translator for USAF, for five years.

Bill established a successful Law Firm in Holland and Saugatuck, MI, where he practiced for over 40 years. When he lived in Michigan, Bill was an avid sailor, enjoyed fishing and wood working.

Once retiring and moving to Virginia, he enjoyed spending his spare time riding the country roads of the area, feeding his birds, working diligently in the yard, his breakfast and lunch with his buddies at the local restaurants, and taking photographs throughout the community.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Liberty Chapel with Pastor Brad Childres officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Long Acre Bed Breakfast, Church Street, Appomattox, and other times at their home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Saugatuck, MI.
