William James Rockefeller, Sr., 66, of Old Grist Mill Road, died Friday, December 1, 2017 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Alice Silvester Rockefeller.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, May 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Ruth Martin Leckie and Leroy Rockefeller. William retired from American Hofman as a machinist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William James Rockefeller, Jr., and wife, Christina of Roanoke; two daughters, Shannon Scruggs and husband, David and Alisha Wirth and husband, A.J., both of Appomattox; one sister, Cathy Moynihan and husband, Frank of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren, Ana, Faith, Tony, Laci, Noah, Avalyn, Olivia and Reagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
