William Edward Mann, Sr., 87, of Appomattox, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Babcock Manor. He was the husband of the late Rachel Mayberry Mann.
Born in Appomattox County, on March 9, 1928, he was a son of the late Annie Mayberry and Edner Mann. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of Spout Spring Baptist Church. William retired from General Electric, was a charter member of the Appomattox Rescue Squad, and loved farming.
He is survived by two children, Linda Smith and husband, Otto and William E. Mann, Jr. and wife, Pam; a sister, Laura (Pumpkin) Martin all of Appomattox; three grandsons, Frank Smith and wife, Melissa, Billy Mann and wife, Kelly, and Jason Mann and Vickie Gunter; nine great-grandchildren, Justin, Blake, Trey, Peyton, and Rachael-Lei Smith, Clay Mann, Paisley, Levi and Brooks Mann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Mayberry, Emma Fields, and Laura Mann.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Spout Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul D. Kvasnicka. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of William and Pam Mann.
