William Therious Garrett, 86, of Richmond Highway, Pamplin died Monday December 15, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Mary Ann Thompson Garrett.

William was born in Appomattox County Oct.9, 1928 a son of the late Mary Robertson and Thomas A. Garrett. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture.

In addition to his wife Mary, William is survived by a daughter, Mary Louise Rowland and husband, Emmitt (Wally) of Virginia Beach; a brother David T. Garrett, Sr of Evergreen, two grandsons, Emmitt F. Rowland, IV and wife Kelly and their daughter, Skylar A. Rowland and William G. Rowland and wife Angela, and their daughter, Allison M. Rowland and soon to be expected William G. Rowland, Jr. all of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law, Walter Pillow of Gladys; sisters-in-law, Page Garrett of Maryland, Marion Garrett of Appomattox and Evelyn Howell of Evington.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Garrett, Eunice Crews and Mary Eliza Pillow and four brothers, Robert, Charlie, Herbert and Garland Garrett.

Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday December 18, 2014 at Evergreen Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Chris King and the Rev. A.C. Smith. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
