William "Bill" Woody
Pamplin: William "Bill" Leonidas Woody, 73, died Thursday evening, January 17, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Erma Shelton Woody.
Born December 23, 1934, in Nelson Co., he was a son of the late James Edward Woody, Sr. and Glendola Catron Woody Carter. He was a faithful member of Rocks Baptist Church where he served as a choir member, Deacon and member of the Cemetery Committee and was a former member of the Appomattox Vol. Fire Department. Bill was a retired assistant manager of CVS Pharmacy in Farmville, formerly Gray's Drug Store, and was currently employed by Appomattox Drug Store.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, James E. Woody, Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, Hazel Thomas, Hilda Massey and Roy E. Woody and his wife, Iris, and a step brother, Samuel E. Carter and his wife, Dorothy, all of Appomattox; numerous nieces and nephews, Sharon Petty, Beverly Thomas, Janet Drinkard, Sheila Smith, Troy Woody, Debbie Duck, Lucy Taylor, Jimmy Carroll and Bobby Carroll; an uncle, Lawrence E. Woody, Jr., Appomattox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary W. Smith.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas D. Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, today (Saturday), and other times at his residence.
