William "Bill" Martin Hengeli, 88, of Midway Road, Phenix, Va., died Monday, February 12, 2018, at his residence. He was the husband of Leona L. Hengeli.

Born in Pennington, N. J., on October 10, 1929, he was a son of the late Emma Tilder and Steven Hengeli, Sr. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a US Air Force veteran serving in WWII and Korea. Bill was owner and operator of Bill Getty Service Center and Village Donut Shop in Jackson, N.J. He enjoyed spoiling his animals and spending time in his rose garden.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by four sons, Kenneth Hengeli of Pennsville, N. J., Joseph Hengeli, Sr. of Phenix, Va., Martin John Bradley and Christina of Toms River, N.J., and William Vincent Bradley and Dee of Temple, TX; four daughters, Diane McMurray of Phenix, Tina Arrizzi of Farmville, Mary Dunlap of Newtonville, N. J., and Sandra Reed and Charles of Garner, N.C.; a brother-in-law, William Vitkaskaus and Bobbi; a niece and a nephew. Bill was blessed to be called "Poppy" and "Pop Pop" to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Hengeli, Jr.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018 at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Kesler and Rev. Joey Anthony. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
