Wayne Douglas "Doug" Wettstead, 89, of Oakville Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at his residence. He was the husband Mary Moses Wettstead for 40 years.

Born on April 10, 1929, in Lincoln, Nebraska, he was a son of the late Merna E. Latham and Wayne F. Wettstead. He was a US Navy veteran serving in World War II. Doug was an avid golfer, a diehard Broncos fan, and a Nebraska Boy. He was a member of Keystone Baptist Church in Lynchburg.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, Ron and wife, Cathy and their children, Josh and Jordan of Washington, Dave and wife, Marty and their sons, David and John, John, and Bryan and wife, Wilma; three daughters, Cindy and her children, Nicole and Courtney, Mary Ann VanSwearingen and husband, Denzil and their children, Michelle and Denzil, Polly and her two sons, and five great grandchildren, Troy, Brooke, Chase, Sammy and Marcus; four great-great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
