Warren David Reed, Sr., 74, of Hixburg Rd., Pamplin, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Bluefield, VA, on September 6, 1935, he was a son of the late Warner Wholeway and Sarah Tate Reed. David was a member of Rocks Baptist Church, a US Army veteran, retired from B & W, and a member of the American Legion Post #104. He was a former school bus driver for Appomattox County School System.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol Ayers and her husband, Robert of Pamplin, Dianne Williamson and her husband, Mike of Appomattox, and Susan Woodall and her husband, Earl of Nashville, Ind.; a son, Warren David (Sonny) Reed, Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Norfolk; two brothers, Richard Reed and John D. (Al) Reed; a sister, Linda Galyean and husband, Jerry all of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, John R. Soos of Lynchburg; a devoted companion, Betty Staton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Frank Reed and two sisters, Nancy Soos and Patsy Jefftazak.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, July 23, 2010, in Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Moore with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
