Walter Alton Howard, 73, of Hancock Road, Appomattox, died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at his residence. He was the husband of Alice Evans Howard.
Born in Virginia, on April 18, 1945, he was a son of the late Lydia Clark and Vernon Danford Howard. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and retired from Limitorque. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post #104, the Appomattox Moose Lodge, and the County Line Hunt Club.
In addition to his wife, Alice he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and David Beale of Simpsonville, S.C. and Linda and Sam Bolin of Albuquerque, N. M.; brothers-in-law, Russell Evans and Butch Evans; sisters-in-law, Audrey Graham, Rose Wilson, and Amy Nash; numerous nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews, Tony and Sammy Bolin, Laura, Lesley, Jennifer, Sherri, Dee, Amanda, Aaron, Cecilia, A. B., A. R. Jr., Becca, and Joe.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Frances Mankin and a brother, Robert D. Howard.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Robinson Funeral Home with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
