Wallace Ragland Megginson, 84, of Appomattox passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Appomattox Health and Rehab Center. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Franklin Megginson.
Born in Appomattox County, March 29, 1926, he was a son of the late Samuel Thomas Megginson and Ella Virginia (Virgie) Spradlin Megginson. He served his country during WWII as a member of the U. S Army, was a retired carpenter and member of Hollywood Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Margie M. Franklin and her husband Dillard; a grand daughter whom he loved dearly, Kimberly F. Coleman and her husband, Joey; a brother Johnny W. Megginson, all of Appomattox; and a sister, Jean M. Nash of Brandon, MS.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Riley T. Megginson and five sisters, Mollie Megginson, Lucy M. Gilliam, Nancy M. Hughs, Edith M. Williams and Anna M. Phelps.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Kvasnicka and Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, December 27, 2010, at the Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Margie and Dillard Franklin and also at Appomattox Health and Rehab.
