Obituary
William Addison Elder, 70, of Watt Abbitt Rd., Appomattox, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Southside Community Hospital.
Addison was born in Campbell County, Va., on January 13, 1944, a son of the late Eva Sterne and Isaac Merritt Elder. In 1964, he started as a barber with Evan's Barber Shop where he worked until 1999 and he then went in to business with his son David, opening Elder's Barber Shop. He was a former member of the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by four sons, John Elder and wife, Wanda of Spokane, Wash., Jeff Elder, David Elder and his wife, Chantel, and Matthew Elder all of Appomattox; three grandchildren, Taylor Elder, Zach Elder, and Brianna Elder; a brother, Donnie Elder and wife, Ruby of Phenix; and a sister, Marguerite Cash of Amherst.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Rusty Small. The family will receive friends following the service.
