William Thomas (Billy) Elder, 70, of Thomas Jefferson Hwy., Pamplin, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at the Retreat Doctor's Hospital, Richmond. He was the husband of Geneva LeWarne Elder.
Born in Charlotte County, Va., on July 12, 1945, he was a son of the late Helen Mann and John Thomas Elder. He was an electrician and worked for Thomasville for over 25 years in the maintenance department. Billy was a longtime member of Madisonville Hunt Club and was well deserving of the name "Wild Bill".
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Amanda D. Bowyer and husband, Chad of Lynchburg; six step-children, Thomas Jenkins, Alisa Nepp and David, Tharna-Sue Fisher, Chad Franklin and Melinda, Roxanne Callahan and Chris, Toni Ranson and Brandon; ten grandchildren, Samson Bowyer, Stella Bowyer, Kieran Bowyer, Izzy Bowyer, Ashton Callahan, Kirsten Franklin, Jack Franklin, Abigail Ranson, Tyler Franklin and Andrew Franklin; a brother, Dalton Elder and wife, Clara ; sisters, Elizabeth Baldwin of Pamplin and Ella Trent and husband, Bo of Farmville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Tony Reeves.
