Vivian Minerva Williams Torrence, 91, of River Ridge Road, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Westminster Canterbury. She was the wife of the late Charles David Torrence.
Born in Lynchburg, December 20, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Dutch Wingfield Deck Gessie and James Emmett Albert Williams. Minerva was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery and fellowship committee where she loved serving her famous grandma rolls for many years. She was also actively involved in the Spout Spring Ruritan, Appomattox Historical Society, W.M.U., and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three children; Charles David Torrence and wife, Becky of Henrico, Aileen Torrence Ferguson and husband, Donnie of Spout Spring and James Drinkard Torrence and wife, Carla of Appomattox; one sister, Fay Williams Fortune of Forest; seven grandchildren, Sherri T. Chaney and husband, Tim, Charles Burton Torrence , David Eugene Torrence and wife, Heather, Annie Laura Torrence, Brandi F. Morgan and husband, Jeffrey, Alison F. Gobble and husband, Kenny, Daniel James Torrence and wife, Laura; 13 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Torrence, Kirsten Rebecca Torrence, Grayson Hope Torrence, Kaymeron Faith Torrence, Alexandra Dean Chaney, Christina Grace Chaney, Jaelyn Paige Dowdy, Shae Ell Torrence, Steele David Torrence, Christian Lamont Morgan, Jackson Sawyer Gobble, Jace Lloyd Morgan, Ava Ryan Torrence, Sommer Lynn Davis and Madison Brianna Moore.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Jean Torrence; two sisters, Claris W. Roberts and Shirley Audrey W. Bondurant and two brothers, Charles Alfred Williams and Emmett Earl Williams.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2017 at Liberty Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Donnie and Aileen Ferguson.
