Virginia Manley Duncan Thompson, 91, of Harper Valley Road, Brookneal, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at her residence. She was the wife of Fredrick Evan Thompson.
Born in Forest, VA, on February 16, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Felix Ohara Manley, Sr. and Ida Ann Arthur Manley. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Virginia retired from G. E. Mobile Radio in 1981.
Virginia is survived by five daughters, Ann D. Spradlin of Bedford, Gail Marks and husband, Arthur of NJ, Joyce Overstreet and husband, Raymond of Bedford and Doris K. Edds of NJ, and Carolyn Pereyra of NJ; two step-sons, Robert Henry Thompson and wife, Tina Marie of Concord and Evan B. Thompson of Appomattox; step-daughter, Judith Ellen T. Huff of GA; a brother, Lynch Manley and wife, Julie of Bedford; and sister, Hila Smith of Lynchburg; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and William Manley; two sisters, Helen Burford and Evelyn Falls; granddaughter, Beth Wheeler Atkins; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Thompson.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Friday March 16, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 17, 3:00 P.M. at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Christine Payden-Travers. Burial will follow in the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
