Virginia Hensley Stephens

Virginia Hensley Stephens, 91, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Marshall Louis Stephens for 66 years.

Born in Bedford County, VA, on September 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Cathryn Coleman and Emmitt Gordon Hensley. Virginia retired as a branch manager with “United Virginia Bank” (Crestar). She enjoyed working in the yard and loved visiting Colonial Williamsburg.

She is survived by a son, James Craig Stephens and wife, Hazel, and a stepson, Al Stephens, all of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Nikki Humphries and husband, Denny of Rustburg, Jacob Stephens and wife, April, and Justin Stephens and wife, Jessie both of Lynchburg; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan Fowler and wife, Ashley, Will Humphries, Tyler Humphries, Stormi Stephens, Taylor Stephens, Autumn Stephens, Westin Stephens, Jon Archer and wife, Jayde, and Justin Archer; two great-greatgrandchildren, Paisley and Hazel; six siblings, Dorothy Hensley, Ashby Hensley and wife, Frances, Jane Andrew, Gordon Hensley and wife, Sandra, Marie Rogers, Melinda Nutter and husband, Gary; and a dear friend, Eleanor Bolling.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Hensley and Briggs Hensley; and one sister, Naomi Williams.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 3, 2026, at Stephens Family Cemetery, 5440 James River Road, Gladstone, VA, 24553, officiated by Bishop Tom Bryant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
