Virginia Almond Smith, 92, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, in Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Ernest Wilson Smith.
Born in Appomattox County, September 24, 1917, she was a daughter of the late
Henry C. and Bertha Ferguson Almond. She was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church and retired from Appomattox Garment Factory. Virginia was an avid gardener, sharing her flowers with many people in the community. These flowers will be a constant reminder of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Katurah S. McCormick of Appomattox; a granddaughter, Gina M. Caldwell and husband, Billy; and two great-grandchildren, Harry and Colleen Caldwell, all of Pamplin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Twyman Almond and Dewey C. Almond and three sisters, Margaret Martin, Irene Almond, and Alice Mayhew.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2010, in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Wes Williams. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
