Virginia Stanley Martin, 88, of Police Tower Road, Appomattox, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021.  She was the wife of the late John David "J.D." Martin, Jr.

Born in Buckingham County, August 4, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Carrie Louise Reynolds and Henry Madison Stanley Sr.  Virginia was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She is survived by two children, Dean Anthony Martin of Spout Spring and Linda Dudley and husband, William, III of Luray; one sister Mary Lou Ranson of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Will Dudley, IV, Cooper Martin and Barrett Martin; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Dudley, Courtney Dudley, Brigid Dudley and Maeve Dudley.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Stanley, Jr., Howard Stanley, Samuel Stanley and William Stanley; and one sister, Ann Childress.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Liberty Cemetery with Rev. Cathy Tibbetts officiating.
