Obituary

Virginia Mae Williams Martin, 65, of Country Estates Rd., Appomattox, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Clinton Douglas (Doug) Martin to whom she was married to for almost 50 years.
Born in Lynchburg, on January 25, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Russell Aubrey Williams and Frances Downey Williams Cobb. Virginia was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Andrew Douglas Martin and wife, Tiffany of Huntersville, NC; three daughters, Carol Ann Ballard and husband, Mark, Sharon Frances Bryant, and Jennifer Lynn Martin and friend, Barry T. Davis all of Appomattox; a brother, Dillard O. Cobb of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Matthew Burleigh, Olivia Ballard, Mary Bryant, Rebecca Bryant, Lainey Cobb, Jessica Martin, and Isaac Martin; a lifetime family friend, Karl Paulett; and her sister-in-law and caregiver, Mrs. Larry W. (Laura) Martin of Appomattox.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jo Jennings and Shirley Ann Ramsey.
A memorial service will be conducted by Karl Mosby Paulett at 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family wish to express their gratitude to the staffs of Roberts Home Medical and the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center for their care of Virginia during her battle with cancer.
