Virginia Lucille Guill Doss went from her life here on Earth to be with Jesus on September 30, 2018 in Cape Coral, FL. She was married for 58 years to Samuel Bernard Doss, Jr—the love of her life. She has missed him for eight years.
Virginia was born on July 27, 1935 in Appomattox County, to Willie Elmo Guill and Mary Frances Coleman Guill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nellie Mayberry; two brothers, Floyd Guill and Beverly Witt Guill.
She is survived by her three loving daughters; Mary Nell Doss Rich and her husband, Tollie of Cape Coral, FL, Ellen Doss McCormick and her husband, Michael of Appomattox, and Jayne Doss Crocker and husband, John of Merritt Island, FL; five grandchildren; Dustin Samuel West Rich of Cape Coral, FL, Ashley Dawn McCormick Williams and husband, Jason of Appomattox, Michael Joseph McCormick of Rustburg, Courtney Jade Crocker of Tampa, FL, and Samuel John Crocker of Merritt Island, FL; one great-grandson, Jackson Robert Williams of Appomattox; one brother, James Guill and one sister, Jacquetta Mayberry and husband, Warren all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Virginia, also knowns as "Mumps" by her family, was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox, where she served in many roles and was a Sunday school teacher for forty years. She worked as a postal clerk for 21 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Appomattox and held various positions including Worthy Matron. Virginia owned Jenna's Consignment and Thrift Shop in Appomattox for eight years.
Virginia also loved to visit family in Florida for months every year. She had many friends and loved playing Mahjongg, Mexican Dominoes, and card games. She enjoyed going to Cape Vineyard Church in Cape Coral, FL. Virginia will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, Friday, October 5, 2018 from 7 until 9 p.m. and other times at her home on Ferguson Street.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastors Jamie and Kim Stilson of Cape Vineyard Church in Cape Coral, FL., officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
