Virginia Reynolds Hunt, 104, died peacefully at Croatan Village, New Bern, NC, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Born in Pittsylvania Co., VA, she was the daughter of the late William Ross and Elizabeth Peak Reynolds.



She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Nelson Hunt, her sisters Hazel Mann, Sadie Owen and Iris Reynolds, and grandson David (Philip) Cotton.



Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and Larry Cotton of New Bern, NC; her son Bill and daughter-in law Brenda Scott of Surf City, NC; grandsons Michael Cotton and wife Jenée Anzelone of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Hunt of Raleigh, and Russell Hunt and Christiana Toutet of London, England. She is also survived by two lights of her life, great-grandchildren Lilianne Toutet-Hunt and Liam Elias Cotton.



Mimi, as she was affectionately called by the family, lived in Raleigh, NC from 1937 until 1999 then spent her remaining years in Appomattox, VA and New Bern. She was a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh and Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox. She taught school before marriage and again for a few years later in life. Mimi was loved by her family, which always came first in her life. She was the true matriarch of the family, who remember her many delicious, elegant family dinners.



The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Croatan Village, Community Home Care & Hospice, Seniors Choosing to Live at Home and also private caregivers in New Bern and Appomattox. She could not have been given better care.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, noon, Saturday, October, 1, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home, 667 Court St., Appomattox, VA., by the Rev. Rusty Small. Burial will be held in Liberty Cemetery.
