Appomattox: Margaret Virginia Whitehead Doss, 87, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 in Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James Lloyd Doss.
Born in Appomattox County, March 26, 1919, she was a daughter of the late James Landon and Cynthia Maude Page Whitehead. Mrs. Doss was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Young Hearts.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Josephine Cox and her husband, Willie of Evington; five sons, David Lloyd Doss of Appomattox, James Garland Doss and his wife, Karen of Lynchburg, Charles Kenneth Doss and his wife, Saundra of Spout Spring, Larry Kyle Doss and his wife, Nancy of Appomattox, Marshall Wayne Doss and his wife, Janice of Concord; a brother, James B. Whitehead and his wife, Christine; a sister, Evelyn W. Harris all of Appomattox; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Doss of Lynchburg and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Landon Doss and Phillip Randolph Doss and two sisters, Elizabeth Whitehead and Louise W. Mays.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2006 in Red Oak Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Barker with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Saturday from 7-8:30 pm and will visit with family and friends after the funeral service, Sunday, in the church Fellowship Hall.
