Virginia Brown Daugherty, 71, of Horseshoe Rd., Appomattox, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in Centra Speciality Hospital at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of George Thomas Daugherty.
Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on June 23, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Virgil Forrest and Lucy Arcuri Brown. Virginia was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lynchburg and the Appomattox Red Hats Society. She was a former Real Estate Broker in Kentucky and West Virginia; owning her own company, Daugherty Realty.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Malissa Daugherty Hohmann and husband, George Hohmann of Charleston, West Virginia, Harold Thomas Daugherty and wife, Mary McAleer Daugherty of Annapolis, Maryland, and Valerie Lou Daugherty of Appomattox; eight grandchildren, Thomas Fletcher, Mauria Fletcher West, Jared Coffman, Ashley Coffman, Ryan Coffman, Brennen Daugherty, Julia Daugherty Johnson, and Davin Daugherty; four great grandchildren, Kylie, Dominick, and Sarah Fletcher and William Elijah West; three brothers, John F. Brown of Nevada, James F. Brown of Florida, and Virgil F. Brown of West Virginia; her step-mother, Clarilynne Brown Salai of Florida; and four step-brothers and sisters, Patrick Brown of Florida, Rev. Michael Brown of West Virginia, Michelle Bonsall of Georgia, and Barbara Hess of West Virginia.
A celebration of life service will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Floyd Addison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
