Obituary

Virginia H. Carter, 94, of Jones St., Appomattox, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Appomattox County, December 12, 1914, she was the fourth of nine children born to the late Oscar Willis Hall and Lucy Jane Marshall Hall and was the last survivor of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 59 years, David Christian Carter; three brothers, Raymond, John, and James Hall; and four sisters, Mary Johnson, Gracie Compton, Daisy Wilson, and Lula Almond.
She was a lifetime member of Liberty Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda C. and Kelly O'Brien; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David P. and Cindy O'Brien all of Appomattox; and special friends, Nancy Woody of Appomattox and Anna Belle Weaver of Pamplin.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Home Recovery of Appomattox and Hospice of the Hills for their loving care and a special thank you to Josephine Dodd and Alice Powell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeff Worley with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
