Virginia Dare Almond Franklin, 88, of Rose Lane, Appomattox passed away, Friday, August 11, 2017 at Appomattox Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Allen Edward Franklin.

Born in Hixburg, July 2, 1929, she was the 7 ^th of 8 children of Virginia Dickerson and Lacy Konnie Almond. Virginia was a member of Rocks Baptist Church and retired from Appomattox County Public Schools in 1993 as a Teacher's Assistant.

She is survived by a son, Randall Allen Franklin and wife, Ann of Spout Spring; one daughter, Sheila F. Webb and husband, Doug of Appomattox; one brother, Joseph Lacy Almond and wife, Ruby of Hixburg; three grandchildren, Katie Webb, Mallory Webb and Patrick L. Franklin and fiancée Morgan Whitmer; a caretaker and close friend Maggie Hamlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward Almond, Harry Almond, Wilson Almond, B.T. Almond, Sr., and Carl Almond; and one sister, Gladys Almond Ranson.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Rocks Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
