Violet Pippin Franklin
Appomattox: Violet Pippin Franklin, 94, of 1472 S. Church St., died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Julian Abbitt (Doc) Franklin.
Born in Abingdon, November 6, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Henry H. and Susan Coalson Pippin. Violet was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and retried after 30 years from the Appomattox Garment Company.
She is survived a daughter, Helen F. Byrka of Commerce Twp, Michigan; a son, Julian Franklin, Jr. of Powhatan; a brother, Charles W. Pippin of Lakeland, FL and a sister, Lucy P. Eanes of Appomattox.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty F. Dolan; three brothers, Carl, Leonard and Millard Pippin and a sister, Samantha Clifton.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday in Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bruce Johnson. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30-2:30 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
