Verta Lonelle "Nell" Cabaniss, 87, of Police Tower Road, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Claude Berkley Cabaniss.
Born in Appomattox, December 13, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Ruth Marsh and William Lee Williamson. Nell was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, retired employee of Appomattox Garment Company and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Neal Maxwell Cabaniss and fiancé Jodi Lee Aerts of Appomattox; two daughters, Karen Faye Cabaniss and husband, John Dudley Nanney of Chocowinity, NC, Penny Cabaniss Herndon and husband, J.E. Herndon of Concord; one brother, Elbert (Teany) Lee Williamson of Appomattox; one sister, Audrey Phelps of Appomattox; 3 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Williamson of Appomattox; Bessie Lee Forgie of Clifton Forge, Ruth Franklin and husband, Clarence of Appomattox; a brother-in-law Albert (Hootie) Maxey of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; Mervyn W. Williamson and wife, Rhoda, William Henry (Bill) Williamson; a sister, Melva Gordon Williamson; a sister-in-law, Ruby Williamson; brother-in-law, Everette Phelps.
Funeral Services will be held 11 am Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Red Oak Baptist Church 5422 Oakville Road, with the Rev. Tom Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30p.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
