Tucker Wayne Lankford, 82, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born in Lynchburg, VA on September 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Tucker Roy Lankford and Alease Gilchrist Lankford.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jacqueline Sarver "Jackie" Lankford; daughter, A. Lynette Lankford Merryman and husband, Robert of Evington; grandson, Chase Robert Merryman; and nieces and nephews, Lisa Peelish, Melanie Swain, Kevin Anderson, and Bryan Anderson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Lankford Anderson.

Wayne retired in 2007 as Vice-President of Administration and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer for Old Dominion Box Company after 43 years. He served in the Army National Guard, was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, and attended Thomas Road Baptist Church. Wayne was a lifelong community servant, joining the Campbell County Rescue Squad in 1965 and became a charter member of the Concord Rescue Squad in 1971, giving him a combined 60 years of service. During his years with Concord Rescue Squad, he held various positions including Captain, First Lieutenant, President and Communications Officer. Wayne was recognized several times for Outstanding Service including the most recent BREMS Regional Award for Excellence in EMS in August 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Monday, February 24, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home by Rev. Rick Duncan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and other times at the residence.

The burial will be held at 11 am, Thursday, February 27, at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
