IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Travis Monroe
Williams
June 2, 1956 – October 14, 2025
Travis M. Williams, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with his loving wife, Louise A. Lauter-Williams, by his side. The two were devoted partners for 41 years.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, raised in West Virginia for a short time, then later made his home in Virginia. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving for seven years as a tractor-trailer driver. Following his military service, he continued his lifelong passion for the open road as a commercial truck driver, traveling through all 48 continental states. Travis especially loved taking his children along for the ride, sharing his sense of adventure and appreciation for the highway.
A man of strong character and kind spirit, Travis loved being outdoors and found peace in nature. He was known for singing Elvis songs, his love of classic Americana, his sharp wit, and above all, his devotion to family near and far.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Monroe Williams Jr. and Hazel Joanne Chapman, as well as four sisters — Theresa Williams, Rita Kieffer, Nita Kieffer, and Tamara Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Louise A. Lauter-Williams; two sons, Matthew Williams and his wife, Terry of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Adam Williams and his wife, Elizabeth of Charlottesville, Virginia; one daughter, Laura Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia; and his beloved granddaughter, Madison Williams.
He is also survived by two sisters, Jewel Trumble and Jeannie Hadley, both of Newport News, Virginia; and three brothers, Ricky Lamb and his wife, Mary of Hampton, Virginia, Jimmy Murvin of Newport News, Virginia and Curtis Monroe Williams III of Michigan City, Indiana. Travis will be lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews across the United States.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace on 2938 Oakleigh Avenue in Appomattox, Virginia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Travis will be remembered for his unwavering strength, humor, and love — a man who lived life on the road, but always found his way home to family. Rest easy on your final road home
