THOMAS P. STANLEY
Appomattox: Thomas Peter "Tommy" Stanley, 77, of Rt. 6, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Rachel Almond Stanley.
Born September 18, 1928 in Buckingham Co., he was a son of the late John Wesley and Mattie Walker Gowin Stanley. Tommy was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was a retiree of Thomasville Furniture. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: his son, Tommy Ray Stanley and his wife, Mary Sue and his daughter, Donna S. Small and her husband, Jerry, all of Appomattox; a brother, W. Raymond Stanley of Lynchburg, and sister, Ellen S. Belcher of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Rusty Small and his wife Melissa, Scott Small, Whitney Stanley, Zachary Stanley, David Spence, Allison Cyrus and Cheryl Small; twelve nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Stanley and three sisters, Margaret Stanley, Alice Stanley and Rachel Richardson.
The family will receive friends and family today, (Monday) from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee, Rusty Small and Rev. Daniel Dockery. Burial will follow at Old Herman Methodist Church Cemetery.
