Thomas Wilson Richardson

Pamplin: Thomas Wilson Richardson, 63, of Little Cub Rd. died Friday, March 2, 2007, in Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. He was the husband of Rachel B. Richardson.
Born in Appomattox County, January 8, 1944, he was a son of the late Hattie Baldwin and James Everett Richardson. He was a member of Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, and a veteran serving with the Army National Guard. Thomas was Appomattox's first kidney transplant recipient in January of 1969. His kidney was donated by his brother Gene Richardson.
In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Richardson and his wife Susan of Woodbridge; Edward Holt and his wife Kathy of Chesterfield; three daughters, Bonnie Jennings and her husband Carl of Brookneal; Zelda Pryor and her husband Phillip of Monticello, AR.; Theresa Baldwin and her husband Gene of Pamplin; five brothers, Henry Richardson and his wife Shirley, B.G. Richardson and his wife Brenda, Gene Richardson and his wife Carolyn, Willie Ray Richardson and his wife Wendy, and David Lee Richardson and his wife Betty all of Pamplin; four sisters, Rachel R. Lee and her husband Wayne of Appomattox, Brenda R. Brisentine and her husband Charlie of Pamplin, Shirley R. Cheatham and her husband Ralph of Spout Spring, and Margaret R. Davis and her husband Jimmy of Pamplin; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 5, 2007, in Piney Ridge United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Day, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 104.
The family will receive friends at the Robinson Funeral Home tonight (Sunday) from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. and other times at the residence. Those wishing to make memorials please consider Piney Ridge UMC Building Fund.
