Thomas Lee Major, Jr.

Thomas Lee Major Jr., 77, passed away on April 29, 2026. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Tommy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tommy was born on September 21, 1948, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Thomas Lee Major Sr. and Cornelia Anne Turner. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Lee Major Harris and her husband, TJ, of Spout Spring, Virginia, and by his cherished grandchildren, Lane Thomas Harris and Gracie Ann Harris.

He is also survived by his sister, Susan Major Tarpley and her husband, Gary, of Seaford, Virginia, along with his nieces, Lindsey Tarpley Forrest (Trey) and Courtney Tarpley Johnson (Scott), both of Seaford.

Tommy is further survived by his four stepsons and their families, all of whom lovingly knew him as “Pop”: Scott Williamson and Ash Capellaro of Roanoke, Virginia; Todd Williamson and his wife Ashley, and their daughter Samantha of Chesapeake, Virginia; Matthew Williamson and his wife Amy, and their daughter Amanda Adamowski of Newport News, Virginia; and Mark Williamson and his wife Lilly, and their children Amelie and Luke of Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Linda Williamson Major.

Tommy served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2014 from the Newport News Shipyard.

In his free time, Tommy found great joy in listening to music, watching NASCAR, working in his garage, and spending time on the beaches of the Outer Banks—one of his favorite places to relax and reflect.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
