Appomattox: Thomas Jesse Campbell, 73, of 939 Bellview Rd., died Monday, December 25, 2006 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, December 12, 1933, he was a son of the late Hazel Lee and Mary Bell Campbell. Jesse was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a charter member of Chestnut Mountain Hunt Club, a member of the Woodmen of the World and a member since 1969 of the Lynchburg Moose Club #715. For 23 years he was employed by Archer Creek Foundry, was a part-time cattle farmer and a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sue Moore Campbell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Pam Campbell, Todd and Shelly Campbell; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Campbell O'Brien and Kevin; two sisters; Sallie C. Moore and her husband, Everette and Clydie Cheatham all of Appomattox; 11 grandchildren, Joshua O'Brien, Christen Campbell, Erin O'Brien, Kalani James (KJ) Stamper, Timmy Campbell, Cari Campbell, Tye Alan Stamper, Sam O'Brien, Tanner Campbell, Trey Campbell, Mary Campbell O'Brien; a brother-in-law, Louis Walker Moore and his wife, Anne of Appomattox; five sisters-in-law, Jessalyn Burcher and her husband, Garland of Appomattox, Margueritte Jordan of Lynchburg, Rebecca Covington and her husband, Beryl of Appomattox, Faye Weston of Red Oak, Eva C. Moore of Mineral; a nephew, Greg Cheatham and a niece, Cheryl Cheatham Comeau both of Appomattox.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, December 28, 2006 in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Thorne and the Rev. Randolph Martin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
