Thelma Grace Fitzgerald Maddox, 88, of Stonewall Road, Concord passed away after a brief illness on November 29, 2015. She was the wife of the late Marion Maddox, Jr.

Born in Amherst County, on July 30, 1927, she was a daughter of the late William J. Fitzgerald and Lenna Angus Fitzgerald. She was a member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church and retired from Amelia Dress Company.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Thacker Cheatham of Spout Spring; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Maddox of Rustburg; seven grandchildren, Glenn Cheatham and wife Tammy, Cheryl Hobbs and husband Jody, Todd Maddox, John Maddox and wife Annyce, Irvin Maddox and wife Jodi, Chad Maddox and wife Cindy, and Andy Maddox and wife Ivy; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters, Dorothy Holleman of Woodstock and Jerleen Fitzgerald of Lowesville; and two brothers, Alfred Fitzgerald and Lincoln Fitzgerald and wife, Sterling all of Madison Heights.

She was preceded in death by a son, Irvin Grayson Maddox.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Friday, December 4, 2015 at Reedy Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Davis and the Rev. Dave Peters. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
