Thelma Elizabeth Mayberry Knight, 75, of Promise Land Rd., Appomattox, went to be with her Lord on June 22, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Emmitt Franklin (Johnny) Knight Sr.

Born in Appomattox County, on September 17, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Willis Albert and Avris Cyrus Mayberry. Thelma was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver to all and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by three sons, Emmitt Franklin Knight, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Spout Spring, David Willis Knight and wife, Sharon, and Michael Wayne Knight all of Appomattox; seven grandchildren, T. J. Knight, Dee Knight, Chris Knight, Daniel Knight, Stephanie Knight, Mary Beth McCormick, and John Michael Knight; and eight great-grandchildren; Nickolas, Kaleb, Brooklynn, Trace, Scarlet, Kenzi, Macaylee (Sissy), and Jonathan.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Avris (Sissy) Knight and a brother, C. D. Mayberry.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2011, at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee and the Rev. Paul Kvasnicka with burial in Liberty Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Bible Baptist Church, Thursday, June 24, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
