Obituary
Thelma Elder Crews, 81, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Albert Crews.
Born in Appomattox County, VA on March 23, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Mary Willie Reed and Claude Swanson Elder. She was a retired seamstress with Appomattox Garment Co.
She is survived by a brother, James Fred Elder and wife, Thama of Appomattox; two nephews and a niece, James (Doc) Elder, Jr. and wife, Frances of Concord, Donna Elder Templeton of Concord, and Bud Elder of Appomattox; numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend whom she loved dearly, Dale Hymn.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Swanson Elder.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Rodney Blanks.
The family will receive friends at the home of her brother, James and Thama Elder.
