Ted Wayne Layne, Sr., 82, of Vermillion Road, Appomattox, died Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Anna Louise Wood Layne.

Born in Appomattox, August 29, 1936, he was a son of the late Nannie Cumbie and E. Taylor Layne, Sr. He had retired from Verizon and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

He is survived by four children, Ted Layne, Jr., and wife, Cindy of Dillwyn, Keith Layne of Appomattox, Jo Anna Webb and husband, Tim, Donna Layne-Colon and husband, Gerardo of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Barbara Gowin of Appomattox; seven grandchildren, Gael Colon, Collin Webb, Alayna Webb, Branson Layne, Jennifer Davis, Caleb Layne, Wyatt Layne, and Sommar Moore.

He was preceded in death by one brother, E.T. Layne, Jr. and wife, Dorothy; one sister, Lucy Price; one niece, Bonnie Kay Layne; and a brother-in-law, James Gowin.
