Thomas Williamson Wooten, 99, of Snapps Mill Rd., Spout Spring, died Thursday, December 19, 2013, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mildred A. Wooten.
Williamson was born December 12, 1914 on the hill, south east of the Appomattox Falling River in a log cabin with a shed room. He was a son of the late Nora Williamson and Robert Arthur Wooten. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and in 1981 retired from Dairy farming. Williamson enjoyed playing the violin and making Bluegrass music with his friends. One of his favorite memories was a family trip to Nashville where he was able to tour the Grand Old Opry.
He is survived by his children, Curtis T. Wooten and wife, Marie and Velma W. Johnson all of Spout Spring; five grandchildren, Michael Wayne Wooten and wife, Carolyn of Rustburg, Gregory Allen Wooten and wife, Robin, Debra K. Johnson all of Spout Spring, Catherine J. Stultz and husband, Steve of Franklin County, and Cheryl J. Kidd and husband, Darin of Appomattox; 11 great grandchildren, Heather W. McFadden and husband, Andy, Derek, Erika, and Adam Wooten, Taylor, Tyler, Wyatt, Riley, and Kinley Kidd, and Conner and Seth Stultz; and a great-great-grandson, Chase McFadden.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Jennings Olesh and a son-in-law, Willard C. Johnson, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Velma Johnson, 2189 Snapps Mill Rd., Spout Spring.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013, in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Tom Barker.
