Stuart McDearmon Farrar, 95, of Pamplin, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Woodlands in Farmville. He was the husband of the late Jane Martin Farrar.
Born in Forest, VA, March 31, 1914, he was a son of the late Norman and Alma Grace McDearmon Farrar. Stuart was a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, a member of Beale Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Jamestowne Society. He was an US Army veteran serving in World War II and a retired United States Department of Agriculture tobacco grader and farmer.
He is survived by his three daughters, Anne Farrar Abbitt of Roanoke, Sally Farrar Harland, and Elizabeth Jane Franklin Farrar both of Richmond; four grandchildren, Charles Wyatt Abbitt of Chicago, Ill., Courtney Abbitt Yager of Atlanta, GA, Stuart Walker Abbitt, and William Randolph Harland, Jr. both of Richmond; and a great granddaughter, Taylor Abbitt of Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a niece, Katherine Farrar Marshall and a brother, Norman Farrar.
A private memorial service will be held Friday, January 8, 2010.
