Stratton Howard Franklin, 85, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Babcock Manor. He was the husband of Doris Tinnell Franklin of Richmond, VA.

Born in Appomattox County, on October 29, 1925, he was a son of the late Robert Sterling (Doc) and Mattie Carwile Franklin. Stratton was a member of Bible Baptist Church, a WW II Army veteran, a retired carpenter, and had been a member of the Carpenters Union #388 for 64 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a sister, Catherine McFall of Lynchburg; a brother, Dillard L. Franklin and his wife, Margie M. Franklin; a sister-in-law, Shirley Franklin all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond S. Franklin.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2011, at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday, Jan. 13, from 7-8:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Dillard and Margie Franklin, 1780 Franklin Farm Lane.
