Obituary

Stella St. Clair Sullivan Drinkard, 93, of Appomattox, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Twice widowed, she was the wife of the late Robert Julian Sullivan and the late Fleming Warren Drinkard.

Born in Bedford County, VA on January 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John David and Lula Cofer St. Clair. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women; a 50 year member and past matron of the Appomattox Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star. Stella was retired from the Virginia State Department of Transportation as time keeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Sullivan Moore of Appomattox; two sons and daughters-in-law, R. Warren and Shirley B. Drinkard of Sunnyvale, CA., and The Rev. David R. and Linda F. Drinkard of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Robert (Robbie) Lewis, C. Joshua (Josh) Lewis and Samantha Huffman of Appomattox, Jean D. and Phil Neal of Richmond, Jason W. and Blaire Drinkard of Lynchburg, and Stephanie F. Drinkard of Chesapeake; five great grandchildren, Fleming Tyler Lewis, Lawrence Alexander Lewis, Lillian Isabell Lewis, Macy Harper Neal, and Marley Sophia Neal; one sister, Helen S. Taylor of Amherst; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma S. Wright and Frances S. Gallaher and a brother, Thomas Edward St. Clair.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Drinkard, the Rev. Charles Johnson, and the Rev. Larry Mann. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, PO Box 522, Concord, VA 24522.
