Shirley Mae Martin Woods, 75, of Sunnydale Ave., Appomattox, died Monday, January 30, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Emory Marshall Woods, Sr.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on July 29, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Hester Davidson and Floyd Winston Martin. Since 1982, Shirley has been employed at Babcock Manor and prior to that she worked at Archer Creek Foundry and Revco Drug.

She is survived by a son, Terry K. Woods and wife, Kristi of Appomattox; a daughter, Angela W. Dunnam and husband, Chris of Spout Spring; eleven grandchildren, Lora Elizabeth Cartrett and husband, Joe, Jennifer Lynne Fulmer and husband, Jason, Marshall Brett Woods and wife, Ashley, Jamie Lee Ranson and Matt Godin, Joey Michael Ranson and Becca Hamlett, Jessie Mae Goin and Travis Casey, Janna Louise Goin and Keith Gagneur, Damien James Woods and wife, Amanda, Brittney Rae Woods, Bridget Dominque Debnam and husband, Paul, and Camaron Jordan Woods and wife, Latasha; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gayle M. Carter and husband, Ronnie of Appomattox; two sisters-in-law, Jean Martin of Brookneal and Margaret Martin of Petersburg; her "two partners in crime", Donna Woods and Nancy Woods both of Appomattox; a special caregiver and former co-worker, Rebecca Rosser; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Emory M. (EM) Woods, Jr.; two brothers, William A. Martin and Wayne Martin; and a sister, Elizabeth W. Goodman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Appomattox Baptist Temple by Pastor Allen Gregory. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
