Shirley Reynolds Smith, 72, of 508 Snapps Mill Rd., Spout Spring, died Monday, January 26, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Appomattox County, December 23, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm Lee and Gladys Jamerson Reynolds. Shirley was a member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and the ladies ensemble group. She was a homemaker, a substitute teacher at ACHS, a volunteer for the Blood Mobile, and loved attending her grandchildren's ball games.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Moses (Dick) Smith; three children, Teresa Moss and husband, Jerry of Monroe, Nathan Smith and wife, Cynthia, and Vanessa Phillips and husband, Jeff all of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Tom Smith, Daniel Phillips, Phillip Smith, and Sarah Kay Phillips; an aunt, Mary (Bill) Wilhoit; two special nephews, Donnie and Scott Almond and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Almond.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 29, 2009, in Reedy Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. John Muth and the Rev. Robert (Monk) Green. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
