Shirley Randolph Reynolds, 87, of West Prince Edward Hwy., Prospect, died Monday, April 19, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Hazel Jones Reynolds.
Born in Appomattox County, April 5, 1923, he was a son of the late Homer and Emma Robertson Reynolds. Shirley was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and a US Veteran of WWII. He retired as a master mechanic having worked for Newman Chevrolet, Moses Motor Company, Cardinal Chevrolet, and Appomattox Ford.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Katherine R. Coleman and husband, Nat of Prospect and Margaret Reynolds of Lynchburg; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Jean Reynolds of Lynchburg, Ralph and Ann Reynolds of Appomattox, Alfred and Betsy Reynolds of Lynchburg, and Cecil and Margaret Reynolds of Madison Heights; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Hugh (Slick) Mitchell and Merle and Leslie (Ned) Nash all of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Randy Reynolds, Kathy Lynne Baldwin, Greg Coleman, Martha Holman, and Gayle Haga; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Reynolds of Pamplin; sister-in-law, Ruby Reynolds of Appomattox; caregivers, Kitty Walker and Centra Health Hospice of the Hills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin R. Reynolds and a brother, Harold Reynolds.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery the Rev. Amy Beth Hougland.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today (Tuesday) from 6-8:00 pm and other times at the residence.
