Shirley Johnson Martin

Shirley Johnson Martin, 96, of Lynchburg, Va. passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Babcock Manor. She was the wife of the late Milton Richard Martin, Sr., for 69 years.

Born on August 10, 1929, in Appomattox, Va. she was the daughter of the late Joseph Pitzer Johnson and Eula Smith Johnson.

She is survived by two children, Milton Richard Martin, Jr. and wife, Cindy and Katherine “Kitty” M. Spencer and husband, Johnny all of Lynchburg; one grandchild, Brian Shreve; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Shreve; and three nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher “Chris” Martin; and four brothers, Ralph, J.P., Harold, and Garland Johnson.

A funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, March 30, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
