Shirley Giles Godsey, 84, of Oakleigh Avenue, Appomattox, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fred "Pug" Godsey.
Born on August 28, 1928, she was the daughter of Orson Taylor and Etta Lawhorne Giles. She was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church, and was a retired seamstress with Amelia Dress Co.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Freddy Godsey and his wife Connie and Ronnie Godsey, all of Appomattox; one sister, Nellie Jarrell of Ohio; three grandchildren, Phillip Godsey and his wife Melissa, Mary Ann Marshall Simpson and her husband Jady and Michael Godsey; three great grandchildren, Timmy, Ian and Hayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Taylor Giles and Edward Giles; and five sisters, Rachel Giles, Elma Hoke, Laura Jordan, Inez Blackwell and Jane Mann.
Graveside funeral services will be held 3:30p.m., Wednesday, October 31 2012, in Liberty Cemetery, by the Rev. Wes Williams.
