Shirley Watson Ferguson, 76, of Church Street, Appomattox, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Ralph V. "Blinky" Ferguson for 60 years.
Born in Appomattox County, Va., on July 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Betty Sue Riley and Herman Foster Watson. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, retired from Thomasville Furniture, and prior to that she worked for Courtland Manufacturing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sherry F. Peak of Lynchburg; a son, Steven V. Ferguson of Appomattox; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Lennie Mitchell, Jr. of Altavista, Florence and Donald Baldwin, and Kirkie and James Campbell both of Pamplin.; two grandchildren, S. Tyler Ferguson and Ashley Ferguson; a sister-in-law, Pamela Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Watson and three nephews, Cavil Baldwin, Joey Watson, and Tommy Irvin.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
