Shelby Taylor, 84, of Charlotte County, died Monday evening, May 15, 2006 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Grace Deaner Taylor.
Born in Charlotte County, April 29, 1922, he was a son of the late George and Carrie Guthrie Taylor. He was a World War II Army Veteran, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Shelby was a 25 year retiree of Burlington Industries, Drakes Branch.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Joseph Walton Taylor and wife, Christine of Stevensville, MD, Shelby Jean Motley and husband, Sammy of Evergreen, and Robin Dale Taylor and wife, Debbie of Gastonia, NC; six grandchildren, JoAnn Taylor McCausland, Jessica Taylor Russell, William Jeffrey Motley, Rodney Keith Motley, Jeremy Walton Taylor and Jason Lee Taylor; seven great grandchildren and a brother, Lacy Taylor.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery by Robin Taylor and the Rev. Michael Day.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and other times at the residence.
