Sharon Faye Inge

Sharon Faye Inge, 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Appomattox, Virginia on February 25, 2026. Her two children, Turner and Sarah, were by her side, holding her hands-just as she would have wanted.

Born on February 4, 1951, in Lynchburg, Sharon carried with her a fierce strength wrapped in with a feisty, fun-loving spirit. She had a spark about her – a little sass, a big laugh, and a way of making life feel a little lighter even on the hardest days.

Above all else, Sharon loved her children, Turner and Sarah, with unwavering devotion. She was protective, proud, and always present. And when her granddaughter Lilly who she called Lilly Bug, came into her life, that love grew even bigger. Being Granny was her absolute greatest joy. Lilly was the center of her world and everyone who knew Sharon knew just how deeply she adored her.

As her children grew, their friends became her children too. Her home was a safe place for many, her table always open, her heart always wide. She was a second Mom to so many over the years. There was a particular very special kid whom she loved just as deeply as her own, Stephanie Marler.

She is survived by her son, Turner Burleigh; her daughter, Sarah Carwile and son-in-law, Travis Carwile; her beloved granddaughter, Lilly Dale Carwile; her brother, David Inge and wife, Fran; sisters, Stacey Childress and husband, Keith and Suzanne Coulson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis T. Inge, Jr. and Gladys Louise Inge; a brother, Dwight Inge; brother-in-law, Jay Coulson; and her lifelong best friend, Helen Jackson.

Her family is deeply grateful to her special friend; Tiffany Hamlett, who helped care for her over the past three years and to James River Hospice for the compassionate care they gave.

Sharon’s life was not measured in grand gestures, but in steady love- the kind that roots deeply and lasts. She leaves behind a family shaped by her strength, softened by her love, and forever marked by her fierce devotion.

The family invites family and friends to Fort Hill Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm to celebrate Sharon’s life.
