Sarah Lane Ray, 71, of McCook, NE went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Community Hospital in McCook.
Sarah was born February 2, 1950, in Lynchburg, Va. She was one of two daughters born to the late James Earl and Warma Willhoit Lane. Sarah grew up in Appomattox and was in the first graduating class of what is now Liberty University in Lynchburg, where she majored in music.
On May 26, 1984, Sarah married Pastor Walt Ray in Lynchburg. They were married by Rev. Jerry Falwell, Sr. In 2020, the couple made McCook their home when they began pastoring McCook Baptist Church. Throughout the years, Sarah remained active in the church by playing the piano and organ. She also worked with the church choir and in women's ministry. She will be missed by all whose path she crossed and the best words to describe her are Godly, gracious, giving and kind.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Mr., and Mrs. James Earl and Warma Lane, and a brother-in-law, Raymond Buckliew.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Pastor Walt Ray; sister, Karen Buckliew of Zanesville, OH; nephews, Bill, Ben, and Eric Buckliew; cousins; and her church family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Walter Ray, Dr. Melvin Campbell, Rev. Carroll Martin. Burial will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Appomattox.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
